Kismayo, Jubaland – Security and governance in Jubaland received a significant boost today as the President of Jubaland State, H.E. Ahmed Mohamed Islam, officially inaugurated the new Headquarters of the Jubaland Intelligence and Security Agency (JISA) in Kismayo. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked a pivotal moment for the region’s security architecture, showcasing the government’s commitment to internal stability and modern institutional development. President Ahmed Mohamed Islam was accompanied at the event by the Minister of Internal Security, Mr. Yusuf Hussein Osman, the Director of JISA, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Sabriye, and the Commander of the Jubaland Darawiish Forces, General Isma’il Sahardiid. Following the opening, the President conducted a tour of the modern, newly constructed facility. Significantly, the funding for this state-of-the-art building was drawn entirely from the taxes paid by the people of Jubaland. This fact, highlighted by the President, underscores the government’s dedication to using internal resources transparently and responsibly for the public good. In his address, President Ahmed Mohamed Islam highly commended the crucial and tireless work being done by the JISA personnel, who he noted work day and night to protect the security and stability of Jubaland. He praised JISA, stating that it is one of the most effective security agencies in the Horn of Africa. The President emphasized that JISA’s work reflects tangible effort and transformation that the public has felt and appreciated. He stressed that the agency was established over a long period with the express goal of making it a strong pillar for intelligence and security, a goal that is now clearly being realized. Concluding the event, the President extended special thanks to the leadership and administration of the Agency, specifically singling out the Director-General, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Sabriye. He lauded Mr. Sabriye for his excellent, unifying, and sincere leadership, which has been instrumental in fulfilling the mandate of the Jubaland Intelligence and Security Agency.
The opening of the JISA Headquarters is seen as a major step towards enhancing the capacity of Jubaland’s security apparatus and ensuring a safer environment for its citizens.
